The Daily Grind with Matt Clarke

Now It's Your Turn

It was a process. He spent years of preparation. Growing, learning, studying the playbook and seeking input constantly. Then he stepped up in a way most people wouldn't dare, cast a big vision and took the reins. He recruited His team and taught them constantly. They spent countless hours together, holding them fiercely accountable and deepening the relationship.

He then shared His vision with thousands and thousands of others. He didn't just tell them what to do and what was possible, but he showed them. Time and time again. He did the work He was asking them to do, before He asked them to do it. He demonstrated so they would believe. And when the time was just right, He left no doubt. He took the plan to the goal line and was willing to do what nobody imagined He would. Jesus gave His life.

But that wasn't the end. It was just part of the process. He came back with some very clear instructions. I showed you how it's done. I gave you the playbook. Now go and do the same.

It wasn't a moment, it was a process.

Too often we get stuck on what we want to accomplish; win a game, close 100 loans, own a home, have a certain amount of money in the bank, be the ideal weight, have a spouse, 3 perfect kids and a white picket fence; but we lose focus on what we have to do to accomplish it. We forget the process. The difficult work over time that yields the result.

Jesus didn't just show up, wiggle His nose and voila! No, he focused every day on doing what he needed to in order to achieve the big goal set before him. And it was hard. But it was the only way. He had to go through the process.

The grind is where the great comes from. The daily reps, the studying the playbook, the relationship building, the learning, teaching, practicing. The small deposits made every week into your bank, health, family, relationship and work accounts. The saying yes to the hard things and no to the distractions. The right activities with the right partners that over time will yield the result you desire. The process.

Stop dreaming about what you are trying to achieve and start being about the things you need to do to achieve it. Don't look at the scoreboard, execute the playbook.

What are you willing to do, consistently over time to make something special happen. Write them down. Do you have the discipline? The endurance? The character? We've been given the playbook and the example. Now it's your turn.
