The world's most popular sport, it was a tall man's game and quite physical when played at the highest levels. Soccer, as we know it in the States, (football everywhere else), has produced some of the most famous and wealthiest athletes on the planet, and being a pro is the dream of countless children across the planet. A young Lionel Messi was no different.
Born in Argentina, Messi was diagnosed with a rare growth hormone deficiency at a very young age and was significantly smaller than his peers. The cards were stacked against him to play pro soccer for sure. Dealing with physical challenges, a barrage of medical treatments, doubters and mockers, conditions were not in his favor. But so what? He looked at those conditions, swept them aside, joined FC Barcelona at the tender age of 13, and became one of the most accomplished players of all time. Circumstances didn't determine his results. Determination did. He just went out and did it.
"Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest." (Ecclesiastes 11:4)
The weather is never perfect. Things could always be better, processes smoother, scripts more dialed in, rates lower, houses cheaper, systems faster. You could be better spoken, taller, shorter, faster, slower, yellower, or greener. "If only I were", "once I get there", "once this thing changes"...all excuses that prevent most people from achieving.
Don't be like most people.
Don't fall into the trap of "if only" or the myth of "there". Act now, the weather is just fine.
The truth is, perfection hasn't existed on earth since we nailed it to a tree. Through what the world discarded, whatever weakness we think we have is the perfect instrument in His hands. You have everything you need right now to have a significant impact, make meaningful progress, and achieve desired results. God created you for action. As Eric Liddell said in Chariots of Fire, "God made me fast, and when I run I feel His pleasure". So run.
