Don't Stop Drilling

The first hurdle was to get the drilling rig over the mountain to the community of La Guaruma after torrential rains washed out much of the roads. After a long, multi-day journey, that finally happened about a month ago. Next was to find water. A team conducted an exhaustive search, a few spots were identified, and drilling commenced.

Our team is drilling and installing a well for the community of La Guaruma in Honduras where they do not currently have an adequate water supply. Consider today all the things you casually use running water for, now imagine it's not there. Most of us didn't do anything to produce the water, we were just born into a place that had it. The rest of the world is not so lucky.

The key to this project is to drill the well and install the pump prior to our team's arrival so we can lay pipe from the pump house to the homes in the community and clean containment tanks. The trick is finding enough water.

Feeling a little like driving the ball 90 yards down the field only to fumble on the 5-yard line, we hit the water about a week ago, but after drilling about 250 ft, there just wasn't enough flow to support a well. We had to move on and decide if we should invest in a second attempt further away. Unfortunately, they don't drill for free.

We agreed, raised the money, and identified an alternate location. Thankfully, we were notified over the weekend that we found water and were able to drill to a spot with enough flow to support the project. Touchdown!

"And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." (Philippians 1:6)

When God gives you work to do, He also gives you what you need to finish it. It doesn't always go according to plan or exactly how we would like, but stay persistent. Sometimes you fumble, hit a dry spell, break a drill bit, or dig in the wrong place. Don't quit. Reset, seek advice from a few experts, adjust as necessary, and keep going.

Persistence is a mindset. So is quitting. You have to choose one.

Most miracles are never realized because people quit just before the miracle shows up.

The same with sales, relationships, great accomplishments, and discoveries. Breakthrough lives on the other side of quit.

Whatever you are trying to accomplish today, persist. You may not have dug deep enough, or you may be digging in the wrong spot. Seek advice and encouragement and keep going. You'll find what you're looking for if you just don't quit. God has begun a good work in you, trust Him to finish what He started. He always does, and it always takes longer than we want...so don't stop drilling.
