Elvis Has Left the Building

Imagine my surprise when the ghost of Neil Diamond walked up, grabbed the microphone, and in a voice uniquely his, brought the crowd to its feet with modern-day “Forever in Blue Jeans”. One word...unforgettable.

The entire afternoon and evening were more of the same. Our teams in Southwest Idaho gathered together in Boise for fellowship, training, seeing each other’s family...and well...a little karaoke. And it was just what the doctor ordered.

The first time we visited Boise, we were blown away. It is beautiful, fun, offers easy access to any outdoor recreation you can imagine, and the people...the people are just awesome. They are kind, hard-working, grateful, and open to a good time. I couldn't wait to go back and when given the chance to spend time with our great teams out here, it was an easy yes.

"Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:25)

One of the components of a winning team is trust.

Trust comes from knowing you have each other's back, having an alignment of values, seeing the person not just the position, and caring for one another. That is built by spending time together, getting to know each other on a personal level, and breaking bread. Throw in a little laughter and you're well on your way to a strong, high-performing team.

Don't neglect to meet together and encourage one another. Share a meal. Learn about each other's family or friends. Dig into struggles together. Be authentic. Be vulnerable. Celebrate and laugh.

Whether your team is at work, at home, or in the community, the more you enjoy each other's company, the harder you will work for each other's benefit. And if you can tack on a little karaoke…well… you now know you can really trust each other.
