Matt Clarke's Morning Messages

Look Out the Window

Written by Matt Clarke | July 22, 2025

Competition is fierce, and yet margins remain steady. Things seem difficult, and yet volumes are solid. It is super hot outside, and yet it is not freezing cold. It is super cold outside, at least it is not scolding hot. I am so busy at the office, but at least I get to go to work. I hate carrying around these extra pounds, and yet I can walk and have good health. I have a pebble in my shoe, but they are pretty good shoes, and if I stop complaining long enough, I can just shake it out.

What do you focus on? Gratitude or desire? What is smooth or what is rusty? What do you have or what do they have? The giant in front of you or the friends beside you? The mirror or the window? The doughnut or the hole?

"Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." (James 5:13-16)

My back is tight, my shoulder aches, my elbow hurts, and my knees, don't get me started on my knees. As I do my best, old man groan, getting up and moving this morning, searching for oil for the tin man, I feel like Superman. You see, I have a friend having surgery. Fighting a giant I'm not, and it's scary. But I can fight it with her in battle formation, on my knees.

Every day you get to choose. What attitude will you show up with? What will be your focus? I have found that most successful people are grateful and joyful. It is not that they are grateful and joyful because they are successful, but they achieved success because they chose gratitude and joy more often than not, and that choice attracted people and opportunities.

Choose how you see things today, and choose an attitude of attraction.

You may have a massive giant in front of you today. If so, surround yourself with others to fight alongside you. Where two or more are gathered in His name, He will be right in there with you. And if you don't have a giant to fight, pray with someone who does. If you step away from the mirror long enough, you will see a lot of people out the window who would love what you have. Choose gratitude and go be generous with your prayers and talents. It changes everything. What you think about, you bring about. Think about problems, and you get more problems. Think about abundance, you live in abundance. Think about others, you will attract friends...and friends help friends.

Focus on the doughnut, not on the hole, and share a little sweetness along the way.
