Matt Clarke's Morning Messages

It Made Plenty of Noise

Written by Matt Clarke | December 13, 2024

Do the next convenient thing. Why put off to tomorrow what you could do the day after? Whatever path seems easier is the one you should take. If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it, it really doesn’t make any noise. Team first, as long as I get to score. That’s enough about me…let’s talk about you…what do you think about me?

This is how too many people live their lives and conduct their business and it lacks one critical ingredient…Integrity.

I read recently that other people determine your reputation, but only you determine your integrity.

"Then the other administrators and high officers began searching for some fault in the way Daniel was handling government affairs, but they couldn't find anything to criticize or condemn. He was faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy..." Daniel 6:4

The story of Daniel in the Bible is a great example of a life of integrity. Daniel, an outsider in captivity refused to live in a way that compromised his convictions. Even when facing a lion's den and a not-so-easy bake oven. His integrity caused the king to promote him from captive to coach and it made all the other swamp dwellers jealous. But it didn't change Daniel. He lived with integrity, despite the cost.

The next RIGHT thing is not convenient, it's just right

Everybody wants to be skinny, but nobody wants to be sore. You gotta do the work and not look for shortcuts. The next RIGHT thing is not convenient, it's just right, so suck it up buttercup and be responsible and trustworthy. And...when you have people on the team who lack integrity, they must be removed, no matter their stats or the whole team suffers.

"People with integrity walk safely but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed." Proverbs 10:9

In the end, all will be exposed. Integrity is the difficult path to a Godly life. Even if nobody was around to hear the tree fall, it made plenty of noise. There is always somebody listening.
