Qubits Are Real

What’s a qubit? Other than being a great word, it's also the basic unit of quantum computing. I know, you're thinking, "Is he really going to try to explain quantum computing?" Well...a little, but it blows my mind.

Traditional computing is based on bits of data. Each bit would represent either a 1 or a 0. It is strictly binary and limited to two possible states. Qubits (quantum bits to my pea brain) flip that theory on its side, as a qubit can exist in both 1 and 0 states simultaneously. Imagine flipping a coin. Typically, it can be either heads or tails. Quantum theory would say it can be both heads and tails at the same time. That's a qubit. It defies our traditional way of computing and offers endless possibilities when linked together and processed in ways I don't understand. But my lack of understanding doesn't make it less true. We have been using quantum physics for over 100 years. Science has proven that energy and matter can exist in multiple states at once.

"I am the Alpha and the Omega- the beginning and the end,' says the Lord God. 'I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come- the Almighty One.'" (Revelation 1:8)

This blows my mind, also. How can something be the beginning and the end at the same time? Well, God can. He isn't limited to the traditional binary way of processing the world. Ask Einstein. Science has proven it's possible. Just because I don't understand it doesn't make it less true.

As I consider how my faith and quantum theory interact, I surrender to the reality that I don't have to understand it. I can be free to experience God as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit simultaneously in my life. I'm released to be linked together, to cooperate with all three, which offers unlimited possibilities of love, grace, wisdom, forgiveness, and direction. And that's pretty cool.

I don't understand how radio waves work, how my TV receives content through the air, or how planes fly, either, but I still board them on the regular.

Spend less time trying to understand God and more time experiencing Him.

It will change how you see the world, interact with the people around you, and open up unlimited possibilities. Qubits are real. Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it any less true.
