Stay Plugged In

It’s incredible how many things don't function properly when it doesn't work. In fact, it's quite scary.  The WiFi box thing at our house decided to stop working. While on the surface it seems like a little inconvenience, all of the things it masterfully controls tell a different story. TVs, vacuums, air conditioning units, door locks, computers, and even grills are connected to this invisible force orchestrating connectivity and operation.

When it gets disconnected, those things stop functioning properly. Sure, life goes on, but nowhere near as functional and harmonious as if the connection were strong. Very much like the word of God.

"Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.'" (John 14:6)

It's amazing how dependent we become on WiFi, an invisible source of power and connection we don't understand. Yet, we dismiss the original WiFi, the Holy Spirit of God, as something mythological because we can't fully comprehend or explain it.

When we become disconnected from the word of God, life goes on, but not quite as functional and useful as if the signal were strong and working in our daily lives. Imagine if you allowed your WiFi connection to work only one day a week?  How would things go?  Only 5 minutes in the morning or 20 seconds before a meal? Once or twice a year? I've travelled all over the world and to places where people don't have shoes on their feet, a roof over their head, or food to eat...but they have cell phones and WiFi. It's mind-blowing. What if we treated our connection to God that way? Our primal need before anything else.

Check your connection today.

If the light on the connection box thingy is blinking red, or not on at all, you might want to unplug for a minute and reset. Living a disconnected life is possible, but it doesn't run smoothly, there's a real lack of harmony, and it doesn't end well. Stay plugged in.
