It was time to try again. With Spring moving in and another winter behind most of us, my wife, Susan, and I went to work on the great replacement. Replacing all the plants we managed to kill over the last 6 months with fresh new ones. We knew that they would look good for at least a few weekends if we did nothing at all, so off we went to try again.
We got the brilliant idea this time to ask the woman at the nursery some complicated questions like… "What plants are hardest to kill?" and "Which ones need only partial sun?" I'm talking top-shelf questions clearly revealing a level of gardening expertise.
The woman then told us something that flipped a switch in my head and triggered an elbow from Susan in my side. She said most plants die from too much attention. Too much water, too much sun. You just have to understand each plant’s optimal environment and let them grow.

It is no different with people. The wrong environment will destroy their growth, but understanding their unique needs and carefully maintaining that will grow them abundantly.
“You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing. Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:17-18)

Winning requires a different mindset than just getting by. Yes, even today the harvest is plentiful, but the workers willing to do what it takes are few. Choose to be one of the few who are willing to do the work to make a difference in your business, your family, and wherever God has called you.
