It’s one of the most desirable addresses in the world. More than Park Place and Boardwalk, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, 10 Downing Street, or anywhere on Wall Street or the coast of California. It's Easy Street. Where people seemingly cruise carelessly through life with no financial worries, all their heart’s desires met, and the sun always shining. Most people look at those strolling around on Easy Street and have no idea what it took for them to get there.
NFL legend (when they name a video game after you, you can be called a legend) John Madden said, "The road to Easy Street goes through the sewer".
People typically see others at the top of their game and focus only on the result. They don't see the hard work, nasty times, sacrifices, and skubalon they dredged through to get there.
"Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty! Wealth is a crown for the wise; the effort of fools yields only foolishness." (Proverbs 14:23-24)
It all comes down to hard work and sacrifice. Most people I know who the world would consider wealthy, never stopped working hard. It's in their DNA and they know the wisdom of a hard days work. They spent a lot of time in the sewer and never want to go back there again.
Our Core Conviction of being the hardest working person in the room is one element of a prosperous life. Mix it in with serving others, doing the next right thing, the constant pursuit of wisdom, and loving God and others will make whatever street you are on worth living.
The road to Easy Street goes through the sewer. If you want the result you have to be willing to walk the path.
